At the annual Sports Hall Athletics Competition, we competed in field and track events. Most of year 6 went, and a bunch of year 5’s went too. In the running we did courses like, hurdles, obstacles.
In the field events we got a lot of points in target throw, long jump and seated throw. We worked as a team to cheer each other on to win the races. Altogether we came 4th we an amazing 112 points!!!!!

In year 6 we having been learning the game and developing the skills needed to play Throw Tennis. We have been developing ways to outwit our opponents by making good use of space.
Currently the Y5/6 boys football team have a packed calendar of competitions. We are training hard every Wednesday with Mr Moran and playing regularly in league matches and competitions.
On Wednesday the 5th September we travelled to Concord sports centre to participate in a five a side competition. We played well as a team demonstrating good communication and a high level of skill. We came joint 8th out of 32 teams.
Our teamwork was challenged when we played Loxley,however our determination increased and we went on to beat Malin Bridge.
We have got further competitions this week and next, so wish us luck and we will strive to be victorious!

This evening, as the newly appointed sports council, we had a meeting at Forge Valley Sports Centre to find out what it means to be a good school sports councillor. But also about what we can do for sport at Sacred Heart School so watch this space…
Despite the drizzle this morning, the KS 2 children took to the yard, the MUGA and the hall for a variety of sporting activities. All the children took part enthusiastically and enjoyed themselves. It was lovely to see so many parents, grandparents and other people there to lend their support to the children. Many thanks to those of you who were able to attend.
Change for life coaches were working hard to inspire the Change 4 Life sports group. This week they were getting a taster session in hockey along with practising a favourite – boccia.
We have been working to improve our small base static balances. With help of our partners, we lifted our heels and held a single leg balance for up to 10 seconds.
We have been working hard to improve our balance and coordination when combining jumps. We make sure we have soft landings but we challenge ourselves to freeze on landing, holding a balance.
