What we do

We have a full governing body meeting at least once a term to look at the issues which affect the school as a whole. We have three committees:

  • Education approves many of the school policies and monitors all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment as well as the curriculum.
  • Finance and Premises looks at the school budget, how it is spent and ensures value for money, as well as monitoring all aspects of the buildings and any related health and safety issues.
  • Catholic Nature focuses on how we maintain the Catholic ethos of the school.

Each committee meets at least once a term. There is also a Pay Committee which meets annually.

Policies and agreed minutes of meetings are available on request via the school office.

As governors we receive training to help us keep up to date with developments in the education system, and to help us to do our job effectively. We visit the school regularly to meet with the headteacher, other staff and pupils, to help us find out how the school is progressing towards its targets. We also liaise with the Diocese of Hallam.

Being a governor demands a definite time commitment but is very rewarding.  At Sacred Heart School, we benefit greatly from having governors with a wide variety of skills and backgrounds but our governors all have one thing in common: we care deeply about Sacred Heart School!

Our Chair of Governors is Mr Lee Ford.

Our Vice-Chair of Governors is Mr Peter Holland.

All governors can be contacted via the school office.
