At Sacred Heart School, we have worked hard to weave Global Learning through many aspects of our curriculum. Children from FS2 to Year 6 are aware of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals and make links between these and their classwork.

Children are taught that they can make a difference and make change in the world. Some of the ways we do this are through:

  • Teaching debating skills and the language of debate
  • Encouraging our children to challenge points of view
  • Learning about a variety of issues faced by communities, societies and individuals around the world
  • Using Newsround and First News to encourage awareness of current affairs
  • Holding a Global Week during the summer term.

It is our hope that, by promoting the importance of Global Learning and the Sustainable Development Goals, the children of Sacred Heart School will learn to be conscientious, global citizens.
