On Monday 1st October, we welcomed over fifty of our wonderful older people to Sacred Heart School for an afternoon of fun. Our guests were greeted by the Chaplaincy Team with tea, coffee and lots of cakes! Our visitors then spent time in the classes, with the children, taking part in all sorts of activities from making Egyptian jewellery in Y5, to making dream catchers in Y2; there were children being taught how to knit poppies and others who were creating wonderful things out of conkers.
The afternoon was rounded off with a lovely assembly, which the Chaplaincy Team had prepared incredibly well. They helped us all to reflect on the importance of older people; the experiences they can share with us, the help they provide to so many families, the endless work they do in the local community. Our lives are so much more enriched by the very presence of our older people.
We hope you all had a lovely day? We certainly enjoyed having you with us today and we look forward to doing it all again next year. Here are some pictures from this afternoon.
