Observing your child at home

  • 26th Mar, 2020 at 8:57am

Whilst we are learning at home, please remember that you can continue to contribute to your child’s learning profile by replying to the emails that I send at the end of each half term with their observations (look in your inbox for the email from 2simple/ 2 build a profile). I will check each week for your observations and link them to the parts of the curriculum that your child’s learning meets. A quality observation involves taking a photograph of your child whilst they are playing and learning with comments about what your child is doing. The best observations are the ones where your child is doing something independently (eg. writing something without adult support, role-playing with a sibling, talking about something which displays their knowledge of a subject). If you prompt your child in some way, just add this to the comments about your observation so that I can determine the level of independence. Try to add any direct speech from your child (eg. ‘I’ve just seen a butterfly in the garden. It used to be a caterpillar’). If you have more than one child in school, then please include your child’s name in the subject area of the email.

Thank you for all of the observations that have been sent so far!
Enjoy your home learning and if you need my help at all, just send a comment through the blog and I will respond as soon as possible.

Hi Mrs Swift, it’s Leo Ferry’s mum. Hope you’re well. How do I log onto 2build a profile? I’ve not used it before so don’t have a username & password.
Leo says hi! He’s enjoyed listening to the stories on youtube.
    Cara 🙂

      Hi Cara and Leo,
The easiest way is to find the last lot of observations that I sent through to the email address that you gave me at the start of the year. This will have been at the end of last half term! You can simply reply to this email attaching comments and photographs and it will come directly through to Leo’s account. I will be able to pick it up from there! If you have any problems let me know and I will see if there is a different way!
Leo – really pleased to hear that you are enjoying the stories – keep listening – we have many more to come

Hi Mrs swift Emily here. I am missing school very much and cannot wait to come back. I face timed orlaith the other day and it was lovely to see her. I have been doing some maths books and learning my phonics. I also painted a poster asking people to stay safe. Hope to see you all soon xxx
