Supertato to the rescue!

The children enjoyed learning about healthy food so much last week that we thought that we would extend our learning about vegetables using the ‘Supertato’ stories as our main focus. See below for some of our activities…

We found out how to grow potatoes and used magnifiers to look for signs of our seed potatoes starting to sprout!
Outdoors, we noticed how the water had frozen and enjoyed breaking the ice and finding ways to help it to melt quickly. We then explored how some natural materials float on water whilst others sink!
Midweek, we received a note from ‘the evil pea’ (from our Supertato stories), who threatened to capture Mrs Swift. We designed a whole range of traps so that we could capture the pea!
We loved working together to make a variety of different traps!
It’s Friday – time for the superheroes to save the day. The traps that we have made this week were laid out around the setting and sure enough… we managed to capture the pea! The pea wrote a ‘sorry’ letter for all of the chaos that he had caused this week and in the end, decided to become ‘a caring pea’. We decided to forgive the pea and chatted about how we can all make changes for the better!
