Celebration of the Word

TenTen Collective Worship Interactive Newsletter for Parents

Celebration of the Word (or collective worship) is an integral part of school life at Sacred Heart and is central to the Catholic tradition. Collective worship provides opportunities for our community to contemplate the mystery of God, reflect on spiritual and moral issues, experience a sense of belonging and grow in liturgical understanding.

The timetable of Celebration of the Word in our school is as follows:

Mon - Whole School - rooted in the Gospel

Tue - Class - linked to the Virtues

Wed - Whole School - linked to Catholic Social Teaching

Thur - Class - child led

Fri - Whole School - celebration / singing

Children are taught to participate fully in collective worship and are encouraged to plan and lead as appropriate to their age.

As well as daily Celebration of the Word, we hold celebrations in line with the church liturgical year including Easter, Mary devotion, Sacred Heart feast day, Advent and Lent services, Remembrance and Holy Week services.
