Liturgical Prayer
TenTen Collective Worship Interactive Newsletter for Parents
Liturgical prayer (or collective worship) is an integral part of school life at Sacred Heart and is central to the Catholic tradition. Collective worship provides opportunities for our community to contemplate the mystery of God, reflect on spiritual and moral issues, experience a sense of belonging and grow in liturgical understanding.
The timetable of Liturgical Prayer in our school is as follows:
Mon - Whole School - rooted in the Gospel
Tue - Class - linked to the Gospel
Wed - Class - linked to the Gospel
Thur - Class - child led
Fri - Whole School - celebration / Class - linked to the Virtue to Live By
Children are taught to participate fully in collective worship and are encouraged to plan and lead as appropriate to their age.
As well as regular, weekly liturgical prayer, we hold celebrations in line with the church liturgical year including Easter, Mary devotion, Sacred Heart feast day, Advent and Lent services, Remembrance and Holy Week services.
